The new government-led opticianry service, MCGH Opticals, at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital has been inaugurated today.
The outlet was officially opened by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a special ceremony held this afternoon.
Health Minister Abdulla Nazim, Male' City Group of Hospitals CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem and other senior government officials also attended the ceremony.
The outlet is located on the right side of the walkway as you enter IGMH through its main gate.
Customers can have their prescription spectacles dispensed from this outlet under Aasandha coverage, with no additional expense out of pocket.

Speaking at the ceremony, Haleem said that hospitals under Male' Group of Hospitals had achieved significant advancements over the past one and a half years. He said that services and facilities have been further improved, with new services introduced as well.
According to him, MCGH Opticals features the latest equipment and will provide comprehensive prescription services, including the crafting of prescription eyewear. The outlet also has the facilities to test for cataracts and glaucoma, as well as to check eye pressure, he said.
"From today, all Maldivians now have the option of having their spectacles dispensed within the MVR 2000 coverage granted from Aasandha," he said.
Haleem further announced that similar outlets will soon be opened at Hulhumale' Hospital as well, with plans to set up more outlets in regional hospitals.
