The Transport Ministry has cancelled its earlier decision to impose a full vehicle ban in Male' for Independence Day celebrations.
The ministry had initially announced that all road vehicles would be prohibited from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. today. However, the revised statement confirms the general ban has been lifted.
Limited restrictions will still apply in specific areas designated for official Independence Day events.
Celebrations marking the 60th Independence Day of Maldives will include a military parade, sporting events, and performances by school students. Activities are scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m. at Republic Square.
