MNDF has announced that fireworks will be launched from 19 spots around Male' for a six minute display tomorrow night at the ceremony to inaugurate the new terminal of Velana International Airport (VIA).

Fireworks will be launched from 16 launch points in the sea, and 3 near the airport, MNDF said.

The fireworks display will start at approximately 8:30pm Saturday night.

VIA's new terminal is being inaugurated tomorrow night as Maldives' celebrates six decades of independence.

MACL has said that the fireworks show at the ceremony will be a 'historic display', promising a surprise alongside the show. The airport is also putting on a drone show.

To date, the most memorable display of fireworks in Maldives was seen during the inauguration of the Sinamale' Bridge - Maldives' most ambitious infrastructure project at the time - on August 30, 2018.

Tomorrow's show, however, will be the first time in the country when the fireworks display is planned across such a large area.
