The City Council is on the hunt for contractors to bring a full-fledged carnival to life on the empty lot east of the beach volleyball courts.
An official announcement states that an information session will be held on the 7th of August for parties interested in setting up and running the carnival—entirely at their own expense. The site is expected to be maintained long-term by whoever takes the deal. Bids are due on the 14th.
Mayor Adam Azim previously promised the return of a city carnival, and this move looks to deliver on that.
The proposed site, now dubbed Alimas Carnival, originally opened in 2004 to mark the 75th anniversary of Majeedhiyya School. It’s seen its fair share of action, once hosting various sports and events.
This time, the council is pushing for a new concept—one that brings the carnival vibe back to the city, bigger and better.
