RTL ferry services to commence in Baa atoll next week

Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry services are set to commence in Baa atoll next week.

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation said that RTL ferry services will be introduced in Baa atoll, with free rides offered from July 28 to August 3. After this, tickets will be sold for RTL ferry transfers, which can be purchased through the RTL website or mobile application.

Baa atoll falls in Zone 2. RTL ferry services are already provided in Lhaviyani, Noonu and Raa atolls, also in Group 2. With commencement of the service in Baa atoll, the entire zone will be covered.

Transport Ministry said that all atolls of Zone 2 will be connected through the service in the coming days.

With the launch of RTL ferry services in Baa Atoll, the total number of atolls served will increase to ten. RTL services were introduced in 2022, and are provided by MTCC, which is conducting the project in three phases over six zones. The project costs MVR 800 million.
