The Family Court has recovered MVR 25 million in child support and maintenance payments during the first six months of this year, according to figures released by the court today.
Between January and June 2025, a total of MVR 44 million was ordered for child support and maintenance. Of that amount, MVR 24 million was paid directly to the court, and MVR 25 million was successfully disbursed to beneficiaries through court facilitation.
During the same period, 1,024 new cases were filed with the Family Court, while 1,009 cases were heard and concluded.
Marriage statistics for the first half of the year show that 1,226 marriages were officiated. This includes 19 marriages between Maldivians and foreign nationals, and 113 marriages that were registered abroad. Additionally, 1,580 individuals participated in the court's marriage awareness programs.
The court granted 588 divorces in the first six months of 2025.
In terms of legal protection, the Family Court issued a total of 55 orders, including those related to domestic violence protection and child rights.
The Family Disputes Resolution Section received 80 cases, with 69 of them resolved amicably through mediation.
Furthermore, the court issued 5,767 summons and orders to appear in court over the past six months.
