Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has today recalled the announcements on leasing plots from Thilafushi for industrial purposes as changes are due to be brought to the island's land use plan.

In an announcement today, HDC said that the announcements made on July 3 and 14, 2024 to issue land from Thilafushi on lease for industrial use has now been cancelled.

These announcements were cancelled because of the necessity to change the Thilafushi land use plan to align with changes brought to the Thilafushi Master Plan after additional areas were reclaimed.

Hence, proposals and offers sent seeking to lease land from Thilafushi have now been cancelled, HDC said.

HDC thanked businesses and the public for the cooperation extended to the corporation in such instances.

HDC decided to develop Thilafushi as an industrial hub during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and compiled a masterplan. Under this, 151 hectares of land was reclaimed in Thilafushi.
