Initial loan recipient list includes 806 students

Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has today announced an initial list of 806 students eligible for student loans from amongst 1,338 applicants.

This year, 500 slots are offered under this loan scheme.

The list also states the reasons why students deemed ineligible were disqualified.

The ministry said that concerns and complaints regarding the list can be submitted until August 3.

Under the student loan scheme, loans are issued in two categories: for new applicants and top up loans for students currently pursuing studies.

This time, top up loans are capped at MVR 700,000.
