Noonu Atoll sees their upcoming atoll hospital's foundation being laid today.
The foundation was laid during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's arrival ceremony to Manadhoo.
Notable names during the foundation laying were Health Minister Abdulla Nazim, MTCC's CEO Ahmed Saeed, Manadhoo MP Husni Mubarak and Manadhoo Council President AbduRahman Sobeeh.
The Manadhoo hospital project was signed and agreed upon with MTCC on 20th April 2024 and is set to have 50 beds. The project will span two years with MVR 185 million spent on it.
The President announced as he was addressing Manadhoo residents that along with the hospital, there will be other services introduced as well, such as physiotherapy, mental health services and speech therapy, along with other treatments.
The Health Ministry stated that the hospital will be built in such a way that general services will not be disrupted even if an epidemic such as Covid-19 were to occur, with the inclusion of a flu clinic and an isolation facility to accommodate for such an event.
The hospital is also set to have solar powered systems in order to cut down on energy expenditure, along with piped oxygen, medical air and suction apparatuses, as stated by the Health Ministry.
