President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said today that work to modernize roads across islands in Maldives will begin next year.
Speaking during a visit to Noonu atoll Maafaru this morning, the President said road construction projects will commence in many parts of the country as part of his administration’s pledge to upgrade island infrastructure.
President Muizzu said that modernizing the roads on all inhabited islands across the country is a major pledge of his administration. He added that initiating road development projects across a majority of islands has been planned for next year.
Maafaru is among the islands slated for road development, he said.
President Muizzu also reiterated that improving the health sector remains one of the government’s top priorities, and announced plans to build a modern health centre in Maafaru to meet the community’s needs.
In addition, he pledged to address delays in the construction of a futsal ground and four new classrooms, and said that multiple sports facilities would be developed on the island in response to requests from the council and the island’s school.
