The Maldives on Sunday appointed the former governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), Dr Fazeel Najeeb, as a new state minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the President’s Office, Dr Najeeb was appointed to the post last week Wednesday.
The brother of Parliament Speaker Abdulla Maseeh and State Economic Minister Abdul Latheef Mohamed, Dr Najeeb had worked in the Maldives’ central bank for five years. He had been serving at a senior post of a Qatari bank prior to his new appointment at the foreign ministry.
Dr Najeeb’s repertoire of government jobs include various posts in the former trade ministry from 1987-2004. Having served several years in the ministry’s Investment and International Corporation sections, his posts include assistant director, deputy director and director.
