The taxi queue at Velana International Airport (VIA) will be relocated to the front of the former cargo terminal from tomorrow, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced.

The move is part of preparations for the opening of the airport's new terminal on 26 July, to coincide with the 60th anniversary of Maldives independence.

The queue, currently on the south side of Hulhule, will be moved near the domestic terminal, with Estate Security Services (ESS) overseeing the existing car queue.

From tomorrow, vehicles will no longer be permitted to park near the domestic terminal. Cars dropping off or picking up domestic passengers must instead use the parking area designated for the international terminal.

Additionally, MTCC airport buses will only stop at the bus stop located behind MACL’s corporate office from tomorrow.

Parking zones in Hulhule were temporarily closed on Thursday as part of ongoing preparations for the new terminal’s inauguration.
