Recipients of flats under the Gedhoruveriyaa housing scheme will be notified through the government’s "Housing Policy Portal" for agreement signing and handover, the Ministry of Housing has said.

According to the ministry, all 4,000 recipients will be informed via the portal only, and Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) will not directly contact individuals unless they are listed.

“Those who are not notified through the portal will not be contacted by FDC or the ministry,” the statement said.

The ministry urged the public to be cautious of scam phone calls or SMS messages related to the flats.

Agreement signing is scheduled to begin next week, with priority given to recipients of flats in towers ready for handover. The Ministry will forward the names of eligible recipients to FDC, which will manage all signing and handover procedures.

Although the previous government had allocated 4,000 flats, the Housing Ministry said only 1,820 recipients were found to meet the eligibility criteria. After reviewing complaints, the government decided to proceed with the current list, rather than compile a new one.

However, the ministry said that individuals who do not meet the requirements at the time of signing will be disqualified from receiving a flat.

The flat contracts span 25 years, with recipients becoming homeowners after completing rental or instalment payments over that period.
