RCC has begun work on building the first flats for sale in Dhaalu atoll Kudahuvadhoo marking the company's first commercial housing project outside Male'.

The foundation stone for the "Maaveyru" tower was laid yesterday by Housing Minister Dr Abdulla Muththalib, RCC chairman Mohamed Nazim, Managing Director Ibrahim Rasheed, and Kudahuvadhoo council president Jaadhulla Hameed.

Under the project, RCC will construct two residential buildings, each with 80 three-bedroom apartments. The buildings will include modern amenities such as lifts and other facilities, the company said.

According to RCC, 50 percent of the 80 flats in the first building, priced at MVR 1.5 million each and sold through bank financing have already been sold. Construction is expected to be completed within 18 months.

“Once the first building is completed, we will begin work on the second,” said Nazim.

“We’ve seen strong interest already, and I believe the response will continue to grow.”

Nazim praised Kudahuvadhoo as an island that embraces development and said that the council aims to build 320 apartments in the newly reclaimed area.

Council president Jaadhulla Hameed said a second phase of housing development would be launched once the RCC project is completed.
