A woman who was arrested seven years ago in possession of three kilograms of drugs has been remanded in custody for allegedly attempting to conduct a transaction using fake payment slips.

Criminal Court ordered Aalaa Ibrahim Rasheed, 33, from Loozan in Hithadhoo, Addu City, to be placed in remand for 15 days on charges of fraud and seeking unauthorized services.

According to the court order, evidence from the incident report and statements made during the remand hearing indicated that Aalaa attempted to carry out a transaction using a counterfeit payment slip.

The court noted that she is currently under investigation in several similar cases and that releasing her would pose a risk to public safety.

Aalaa, a former journalist, has previously been arrested and detained in connection with drug-related crime.

In 2018, she was taken into custody by police after being found in possession of three kilograms of drugs. At the time, she was accused of operating as a drug dealer in Male' and Hulhumale'.
