The Ministry of Education has opened the application window for parents to enroll their children in Lower Kindergarten (LKG), Upper Kindergarten (UKG), and Grade One for the upcoming academic year.
In an announcement released today, the ministry stated that registration is now open and will continue through next month.
Children eligible for Grade One admission must be at least six years old and under seven by January 1 of the relevant academic year. However, due to a shift in the academic calendar — which now begins in August — the ministry clarified that, as in the past two years, children turning seven by the end of December will still qualify for Grade One admission.
This follows the guidelines outlined in a ministry circular issued in January last year, which governs the age and procedures for student admission and transfers between schools.
According to the current academic calendar, schools will begin their first term break on July 24, with the second term starting on August 10. The academic year is set to conclude on December 28, followed by the end-of-year holidays, which will run from December 28, 2025, to January 27, 2026.
