Majlis to appoint Idrees Fauzee to Judicial Service Commission as public representative

The People's Majlis has approved Idrees Fauzee as a Public Representative in the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Due to current JSC Public Representative Aminath UmmuKulsum's term coming to an end, the Majlis opened up the opportunity for individuals to nominate themselves for the position. The Judiciary Committee sent four individuals who scored north of 75 to the Majlis floor.

Idrees was the one who achieved the highest mark and so was approved to be appointed by the Majlis. Idrees is currently serving as L. Kalaidhoo Council's Secretary General.

JSC consists of the following:

- Public Representative, appointed by the People's Majlis

- Civil Service Commission President

- Attorney General

- An individual nominated by the President

- An attorney appointed from the Bar Council of the Maldives

- A judge appointed from the lower courts

- A judge appointed from the High Court

- A judge appointed from the Supreme Court
