Police has begun collecting forensic samples from individuals who entered the residence of 65-year-old AbduRahman Adam, who was found fatally assaulted in his home in AA. Maalhos on Saturday.

According to police, samples including fingerprints have been taken from several people as part of the investigation into the suspected assault and murder. Due to the absence of a police post on the island, investigative activities are being conducted from the island council office.

AbduRahman was first discovered by his wife, Nazima Ibrahim, around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. She had entered the room where he was sleeping when she found him severely injured. Around 10 people, including Maalhos Council President Ismail Naseer, responded and helped transport AbduRahman to the island health centre, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have confirmed that forensic samples are being taken from everyone who came into contact with the victim, including all those involved in transporting and attending to him at the health centre.

As part of the investigation, police have begun questioning residents living near the victim’s residence. Officers are reportedly using standardized printed questionnaires during the interviews.

A search of the surrounding bushy areas and the beach near AbduRahman's residence was conducted today. Police have also obtained CCTV footage from two shops on the island; however, there are no cameras covering the area around the victim’s home.

Speaking to Mihaaru News, Nazima said she discovered her husband while heading to the bathroom as part of her nightly routine. She noted the door to the house was unlocked and that there were visible footprints indicating entry by others.
