MET Office signs agreement with Maldivian Red Crescent to boost climate awareness

Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Maldivian Red Crescent to raise public awareness on climate change and disaster preparedness.

The agreement was signed yesterday by State Minister for Environment Ibrahim Mimrah on behalf of MET Office, and by Maldivian Red Crescent Secretary General Fathimath Himya.

According to the MET Office, the MoU aims to strengthen public engagement and vigilance on climate change, disaster risk reduction, and early warning systems.

The two agencies will collaborate on public outreach, training, and technical support.

As part of the agreement, climate awareness campaigns will be conducted with community participation, while MET Office staff will also lead training sessions focused on humanitarian assistance.
