Zaidhan Mohmaed Hashim, 28 and his wife Afrin Akhtar, 30 have been released from prison. They were imprisoned following a fake slip scam done to acquire various goods.

The husband and wife were locked up last month for a period of 15 days via court order. Various goods amounting to MVR 36,000 were acquired by the couple using fake slips.

Prior to this offense, Zaidhan was apprehended in May on the accusation he'd scammed a restaurant out of MVR 9,000 worth of food orders by sending them fake slips. The couple have been released after a portion of money had been paid back to businesses, with the total amount being more than MVR 80,000. Authorities said that there was no reason to hold them and so were released.

Police have said that there are two shops Zaidhan had scammed products from.

Police have also stated that Zaidhan had kept said products at two Hiyaa Flat apartments he's currently renting. Police searched the residences and recovered many products after CCTV footage confirmation.

Zaidhan currently has 11 investigations against him for accusations of fraud, with two trials currently underway.

Zaidhan was also apprehended in 2022 for committing fraudulent acts using a fake company name. Police also previously announced that they were searching for him over acts of fraud after the 2022 fraud acts.
