The government has awarded the contract for the construction of a new harbour in GDh. Nadella to a private company, Heavy Force Pvt Ltd.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure today. Minister Dr Abdulla Muththalib signed the contract on behalf of the ministry, while Managing Director Ibrahim Zameer signed on behalf of Heavy Force.
The project, valued at MVR 78.6 million, is scheduled for completion within 450 days.
According to the ministry, the scope of work includes pier excavation, construction of a new canal, excavation of the existing canal, construction of revetments, canal footings, outer embankments, groynes, road drainage systems, and a scouring apron for shore protection. Additional components include an 11-metre-wide ramp, canal and harbor lighting, and a 2,660-square-metre paved area.
