2025 Journalism Awards nominations now open

Maldives Media Council (MMC) has announced today that nominations for this years Journalism Awards have begun.

Nominations are open in the Newspaper & Magazine category and the Audio and Video Category spanning 14 fields, which are:

1. Investigative Journalism

2. Social Impact Journalism

3. Political Journalism

4. Judicial and Legal Journalism

5. Business and Economic Journalism

6. Sports Journalism

7. Photojournalism

8. Documentary Journalism

9. Feature Journalism

10. Lifestyle, Entertainment and the Arts Journalism

11. Environment and Sustainable Development

12. Most Promising Journalist

13. Journalist of the Year Award

14. Best Regional Newspaper Award

According to the MMC Journalism Awards rules, journalists who are issuing nominees for the award must submit an official document issued by a media outlet confirming that they have worked as a journalist in a media outlet or media outlets in the past year.

The deadline for nominations is 31st July 2025, 1:00pm, with the form being submitted online.

The MMC has been hosting the Journalism Awards every year since 2014.
