The body of AbduRahman, who died due to severe injuries sustained in an assault last night in AA. Maalhos, is to be transferred to Male' to conduct an autopsy.

AbduRahman was found with serious head injuries at around 2pm last night in his bedroom. He was rushed to the Health Centre, but succumbed to his injuries at around dawn today.

His body is currently being kept at the Maalhos Health Centre, but it has been decided to transfer the body to Male' later this afternoon to conduct an autopsy.

However, the family states that they do not want an autopsy.

"We are not obstructing the investigation. But as it would cause further harm to the body, we do not wish for it to be done," a member of his family told Mihaaru News.

AbduRahman and his wife lived at his wife's house, Mahiya. The two sleep in separate rooms. His wife, Nazima, only became aware of the assault when she went into AbduRahman's room to use the attached bathroom. Nazima has said she walked in to the room to find AbduRahman in critical distress.

Nazima also said that there were clear footprints in the sand, believed to be that of the assailant.

As this island is known for being crime free, residents do not lock their doors.
