The Islamic Library in Salman Mosque has officially opened last night.

On National Library Day, the Islamic Library was opened by Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim.

The library is located on the third floor of the Salman Mosque.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed invited Maldivian scholars and writers to donate their books to the library.

The ministry said that the Islamic Library currently carries over 15,000 books. They said that the library will be a useful source of information for those seeking to learn or conduct research in Islamic knowledge.

The ministry said that a team of youth had collaborated with the Islamic Ministry staff to prepare the library for opening.

It is a presidential pledge of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to open islamic libraries in Islamic Centres in Male' and the atolls.

Islamic Ministry previously announced that a foreign university has pledged to donate 60,000 books to libraries in Male' and the atolls.
