President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called today to increase investment in youth related initiatives.

The President made these remarks in his special address today on the occasion of World Population Day.

The President emphasized that, in an aging population, youth remain central to future progress—underscoring the need for greater investment in youth-focused initiatives.

President Muizzu emphasized his government’s priority to create supportive conditions for young people—through better work environments, affordable housing, accessible childcare, and inclusive education and health services.

The President also shared a post on X marking World Population Day. He noted that it is estimated that by 2026, one-fifth of the Maldives' population will be over the age of 65.

He said that the government is making efforts to prepare today's youth to face and overcome challenges that may be posed with an aging population.
