Biomedical Research Scientist Dr Ibrahim Mustafa passed away last night.
Dr Ibrahim, 57, passed away last night while receiving treatment in Cochin, India.
Originally from Hulhudhoo, Addu City, Dr. Ibrahim lived in Dubai with his family. After a prolonged illness, he was transferred to India for further treatment last night.
Funeral prayers for Dr Ibrahim are scheduled to be held in Cochin after Asr prayers today.
Dr Ibrahim last served as Professor of Biomedical Science at UAE's Higher College of Technology.
Dr Ibrahim completed his PhD in pathology and laboratory medicine from Canada's University of British Columbia. He conducted extensive research in the health field, especially in relation to thalassemia.
Dr Ibrahim played a key role in the establishment of the Maldives Blood Service. He also served as Vice President of the Cancer Society of Maldives.
Dr Ibrahim also worked at IGMH and filled various positions at SHE.
