The remining section of the Male' North Harbor that was under the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and all its responsibilities have been handed over to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).
MPL has been in charge of overlooking all responsibilities concerning their ports all the way to the North Harbor. The area from the fish market up to the local market crossing is under Male' City Council's jurisdiction.
However, MPL has announced that, under the agreement made with the Transport Ministry, all responsibility has been handed over to MPL concerning the areas of: beginning from fishing boat docks up to the local market crossing. The handover occurred on 4th June 2025.
MPL has also stated that the port will be operated by Male' North Harbor.
MPL has also begun registering vehicles after acquiring the port.
MPL has requested that unregistered vehicles be registered to the Male' North Harbor by 1st August 2025. They stated that their services will not be given to unregistered vehicles if registration is not done by the aforementioned date.
North Harbor has multiple freight vehicles picking up and dropping off products throughout the day. Many boats carrying goods to islands and resorts also dock there.
