Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has rejected claims that the fireworks show for the opening ceremony of the new terminal was contracted to a company with ties to Israel.
In a statement issued today, MACL stated that they have not made any transactions with any company with links to Israel.
"We assure the public that the company has no involvement in the activities alleged by Raajje TV in the video they are circulating, which appears to be intended to tarnish the company's name," MACL said.
MACL said that they are looking into possible legal action that can be taken against the spreading of false information which affects public trust in the company. Complaints are also being submitted to Maldives Broadcasting Commission, they said.
MACL has announced that the new terminal at Velana International Airport will be officially opened on July 26, coinciding with Maldives' 60th Independence Day.
