The government of Morocco has informed the Maldivian government that they will be extending opportunities for Maldivian imams to pursue Arabic language studies in Morocco.
The opportunity was granted by the Morocco government in response to a letter sent by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, the Islamic Ministry website states.
Islamic Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed stated that a formal agreement will soon be signed to offer Arabic language study opportunities to Maldivian imams. He further said that these studies will be conducted at an institute run directly under the overview of the Moroccan King.
The ministry said that imams who pursue these studies will be provided with pocket money and accommodation.
The ministry said that it is a priority of this government to provide opportunities to imams to seek further training in country and abroad. Last year, over 100 imams were granted trainings and experience abroad.
