The newly appointed Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Maldives Yahya Hassan Alhqahtani has presented his credentials to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu in a ceremony held at the President's Office earlier today.
The Ambassador was ceremoniously escorted from Republic Square to the President’s Office in a traditional “Haiykolhu” procession, accompanied by the MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band.
President Muizzu extended gratitude for the continued support that Saudi Arabia provides to the Maldives, especially highlighting the brotherly relations with King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.
The President also thanked Saudi Arabia for Maldives' inclusion in the Makkah Route Initiative.
President Muizzu and the Ambassador reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the close ties between the nations.
Maldives established diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia on March 17, 1981, marking 44 years this year.
