Accused in abduction case in custody until end of trial

Criminal Court has placed a man arrested in relation to an abduction case in remand in custody until the end of trial.

Ibrahim Saeed, Suvaasaage, S. Feydhoo was arrested yesterday for holding a person captive in a Male' house.

Police received reports on Wednesday of a person being held against their will in a Male' residence.

In an operation yesterday, Police rescued the 44 year old Maldivian man who was being held captive, and arrested Saeed from the scene.

When presented in court for his remand hearing, the court ruled that Saeed be held in detention until the trial concludes.

The motive for the abduction is not known as of yet. Police declined from providing any further details, stating that the case is under investigation.
