Presidential and High Achievers Scholarship applications now open

Higher secondary students who were chosen for the Presidential Scholarship and the High Achievers Scholarship last year now have the opportunity to purse their chosen field of study.

Higher secondary students who were chosen for the Presidential Scholarship and the High Achievers Scholarship last year now have the opportunity to purse their chosen field of study.

The Presidential Scholarship allows students to pursue a First Degree in their chosen field of study in any country. This endeavor will be fully funded by the government under the scholarship.

Students who are eligible for the Presidential Scholarship are students from 2024 who:

- Achieved an A-star grade in at least five subjects, two of which have to be Islam and Dhivehi

- Achieved a C grade or higher in English in O-Level or higher

The High Achievers Scholarship is given out to students who want to pursue any of the fields highlighted in the "National Training Needs List" on the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development website.

This scholarship is given to students who have completed their higher secondary education and also meet the following requirements:

- Achieved an A grade in three subjects in A-Level or equivalent academic qualification

- Achieved an A grade in Dhivehi and Islam

- Achieved an A grade in Dhivehi and Islam along with an A final average at Shahada Secondary examinations conducted at Al Madhurasathul Arabiyyathul Islaamiyya.

The High Achievers Scholarship is available from SAARC countries including Maldives, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, China and OECD countries.

The Ministry of Higher Education has stated that students who qualify for the Presidential Scholarship (as per the list released by the ministry) based on the requirements as stated by the scholarship can now begin to apply.

According to the ministry, applications should be submitted before the stipulated deadline along with the necessary documents, as the ministry is required to begin arrangements 18 months before the courses begin.

Students can apply for the Presidential Scholarship and the High Achievers Scholarship via the ministry's "MyEdu" portal before 30th September 2025.

During last years award ceremony, 11 students received the Presidential Scholarship, along with 87 students receiving the High Achievers Scholarship. These are also students who achieved the best result in A-Levels.

The aforementioned students can now apply for their chosen field of study.

Six CHSE students, two students from Baa. Atoll Education Center, one student from Jamaluddin School, one student from Ahmadiyya International School and one student from Al Madhurasathul Arabiyyathul Islaamiyya were chosen for the Presidential Scholarship.

In 2023, 19 students from Male' schools received the Presidential Scholarship.
