Maldives Immigration has yesterday detained fifteen expatriates for engaging in illegal businesses at the Rashu Market in Hulhumale'.
In a post on X, Immigration said that under efforts to identify expatriates living and working illegally in the Maldives, the task force conducted a raid operation at the Rashu Market in Hulhumale' Phase 1 yesterday.
In the operation, 37 expatriates were checked, from amongst whom 15 were taken into detention for illegal business activities. This includes 10 men and 5 women.
In June, Immigration conducted 'Operation Hama Magu' in Addu, under the same efforts. During that operation, Immigration detained 83 expatriates.
As of now, Immigration has deported over 5000 expatriates they have taken into detention for living and working illegally in the country.
