Police rescue Bangladeshi held hostage in a Male' residence

Police have today rescued a Bangladeshi man who was being held hostage in a house in capital Male' City.

Reports of a person being held against their will in a Male' residence was received by Police at approximately 6 am this morning.

Police said they arrived at the scene, forcibly opened the door, and rescued the individual.

The man has now been taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital to review his condition although no external injuries are to be seen, Police said.

Police said that they are conducting further investigations into the case, and did not disclose any further details.
