A special delegation from the Grand National Assembly of Turkey paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu today at the President’s Office.
Members of the Turkey-Maldives Interparliamentary Friendship Group were also present during the meeting.
According to the President’s Office, President Muizzu welcomed the delegation and encouraged collaboration between the Interparliamentary Friendship Group and various agencies of the Maldivian government. He also expressed appreciation for the group’s multi-party representation and held constructive discussions on enhancing bilateral relations across multiple sectors.
President Muizzu commended Turkey’s firm stance on the Palestinian issue, noting that Maldives also maintains a strong position on the matter.
The meeting also included discussions on climate change, with President Muizzu sharing details about national initiatives on economic reform, environmental protection, and investment in renewable energy.
The Turkish delegation, in turn, highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in higher education, tourism, and agriculture. They also emphasized the need to deepen economic ties and encourage business partnerships between the two nations.
Members of the delegation expressed that it was an honor to maintain close relations with the Maldives, describing it as a friendly Muslim country with shared values.
