Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) on Sunday revealed that it will be sending its monthly waste collection bills via SMS and e-mail to customers.

WAMCO has been running its waste collection service for a month now.

An official from the corporation, which is run by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, revealed that it does not want to print bills every month and send it to those registered for the service.

“We haven’t prepared any bills yet. We want to bill people via SMS or e-mail,” he said

Currently, the households registered for the service are required to pay their monthly dues at WAMCO's office.

WAMCO charges MVR 150 per household for their waste collection service.
