President Muizzu to make official visit to Singapore

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is scheduled to fly to Singapore on an official visit today.

At the invitation of Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President Muizzu makes his trip to the neighboring country as stated by the Maldives Presidents’ Office. First Lady Sajidha Mohamed will be accompanying the President on this trip.

The Presidents’ Office stated with a positive outlook that this four-day trip will further strengthen the long-standing bond and relationship the Maldives has with Singapore.

They also stated that Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and other ministers will be in attendance along with President Muizzu and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. This meeting will cover not only developmental benefits but steps to strengthen the friendship the two countries share.

President Muizzu will also be present at a business forum, with representatives of major brands in attendance as well, says the Presidents’ Office.

The President’s Office also states that various MOUs (Memorandum of Understanding) concerning different fields will be signed in further efforts to bring both countries closer together.

President Muizzu will also be meeting with Maldivians that reside in Singapore.

Diplomatic ties between Maldives and Singapore were established on 20th February 1975.
