Both students who got injured in the recent accident in R. Fainu are now stable and have been removed from ventilator support, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) said today.

The injured teacher, however, still remains on life support.

In Thursday night's accident, a motorcycle driven by a minor, with a Fainu school student as passenger, crashed into the school's Principal and Islam teacher who were out for exercise.

The four were initially treated for injuries at the Fainu Health Centre, and were then transferred to the Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital in the same atoll.

On Thursday, three of the four were brought to capital Male' for further treatment. The Principal was treated and discharged from the Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital.

An IGMH media official said that the two students, aged 16 and 14, have now been taken off ventilator support after their condition became more stable. However, the two are still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit.

The hospital has not disclosed details of the injuries sustained by the three.
