Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has said that the three injured in the recent accident in R. Fainu remains on ventilator support.

In an accident that occurred in Fainu last Thursday night, the school principal, teacher, and two students were injured. The teacher and two students sustained the most serious injuries and are now on life support after being transferred to Male' for further treatment yesterday morning.

An IGMH media official said that all three are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit. The students are aged 14 and 15, and the teacher, 49.

A motorcycle being driven by a student who finished O'levels this year and a Grade 9 student crashed into the Principal and an Islam teacher.

While the teacher has been brought to Male' for further treatment, the Principal was discharged after receiving treatment at the Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital in the same atoll.

"The motorcycle crashed into the teacher, and he was thrown quite a distance," a Fainu resident said.

The teacher sustained a head injury, as well as damage to his ribs. The two students also suffered critical injuries in the accident.
