Immigration detains 83 expatriates in Addu

Under the Maldives Immigration's 'Hama Magu' operation, aimed at identifying expatriates living and working illegally in the Maldives, 83 expatriates have been detained from Addu.

Under the Maldives Immigration's 'Hama Magu' operation, aimed at identifying expatriates living and working illegally in the Maldives, 83 expatriates have been detained from Addu.

Immigration Controller Ahmed Faseeh and Deputy Controller Ahmed Ashfan are also actively involved in this operation that was launched last Wednesday. 35 Immigration Officers, Addu Police and Addu City Council members are operating this raid.

To date, over 5000 undocumented expatriates have been identified and deported under Immigration's operations.

The government aims to resolve the issue of illegal immigrants by April, 2027.
