Vice President Hussain departs for Financing for Development in Spain

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef departed for Spain today to attend the "Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4)".

The conference is set to take place in Seville from June 30 to July 3.

The Vice President is expected to deliver a statement during the plenary session of the conference and participate in multi-stakeholder roundtables.

In his remarks, he will highlight Maldives’ efforts on financial reform and urge the international community to support debt sustainability and ensure inclusive representation for small island developing states.

He will also speak at side events hosted by the Maldives and engage in high-level discussions alongside senior government officials representing the country.

The FfD4 conference brings together governments, international organizations, financial institutions, businesses, civil society, and UN bodies to discuss reforming global financial systems.

The last conference was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 2015.
