Yameen Idrees appointed as Secretary General of Broadcom

Yameen Idrees has been appointed as the Secretary General of Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom).

Yameen previously served as Managing Director of the Maldives Hajj Corporation, later moving on to private business.

Idrees' appointment comes after Mariyam Zeeniya, who previously filled the post, was dismissed.

Zeeniya was on a three day suspension before she was dismissed on May 25. She was suspended for failing to cooperate with implementing commission decisions, and acting in a manner that obstructs commission work.

While Zeeniya was dismissed, a number of staff of Broadcom have submitted a petition to parliament against members of the commission.
