Education Ministry has started looking into an incident of bullying at a school.

The incident occurred in a school in the atolls amongst a group of male students.

Minister of Education Dr Ismail Shafeeu said that the ministry, along with the Ministry of Family and Social Development and the Police, are looking into an incident of bullying.

The father of the victim of bullying shared a post on social media detailing the incident. He wrote that he had gone to the school after being informed via a phone call that his child had been bullied and assaulted. When he arrived, he saw his child had scratches over his body, bleeding from his wounds. The father shared a photo on social media of the child's wounds.

He alleged that his child had been assaulted by another student in the same class.

"I was most surprised by how the school reacted. The school accepted that my child has been bullied over a period of time. But they then said that my child had not officially reported to this the school," the post reads.

He stated that it is the school's responsibility to prevent such incidents in school and to protect the students.

He asserted that he would continue to work until justice is served.
