Marine accident involving a dinghy and speedboat leaves three injured

A dangerous accident occurred last night near Lh. Madivaru Airport, where a dinghy and a speed boat collided.

A Police Media Official said that they received reports of the incident at 8.30 pm last night.

Three persons on the dinghy sustained injuries, and were treated at the Lh. Naifaru Atoll Hospital. The captain of the dinghy and an additional person have since been transferred to Male' for further treatment. Details of injuries sustained have not been disclosed.

Police said that they have been so far unable to locate the dinghy following the accident. It is believed that the dinghy may have sunk.

Videos circulating on social media show that the bow of the dinghy was severely damaged in the accident. Blood is also seen on the speed boat, suggesting serious injury.
