HRCM member positions now open for applications

As the term of two members of Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) nears its end, the President's Office has announced that applications are now open for membership positions.

Deadline for application is July 9, according to the President's Office.

As per the HRCM Act, applicants for the post of member must be Maldivians over the age of 25. Additionally, applicants:

- must not have been convicted for any Hadd offences in Islamic Shariah over the past five years-

- must not have any convictions for bribery

- must not be filling any other jobs, either in the government or private

- must not be a political appointee

- must not be a member of, or active in any political party

Application forms can be downloaded from the President's Office website. Completed forms can be submitted between 8:30 am and 12 pm on official working days.

The five existing members of HRCM are Mariyam Muna, Moomina Waheed, Aminath Shifa'ath, Samau Ahmed Najeeb and Ismail Habeeb.
