President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated today that the Maldives stands ready to assist in resolving conflicts and promoting peace in the Middle East. His remarks were made in reference to the recent attacks launched by Israel against Iran.

The President expressed these sentiments during a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of Iran to the Maldives, Dr. Alireza Delkhosh. The meeting followed an official ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning, during which Ambassador Delkhosh presented his credentials to the President.

Earlier June 13, President Muizzu publicly condemned Israel’s ongoing attacks against Iran in a post on X, describing the actions as a serious violation of international law.

According to a statement from the President’s Office, Ambassador Delkhosh commended President Muizzu’s stance on the issue and conveyed his appreciation on behalf of the Iranian leadership.

The two officials also discussed avenues for strengthening bilateral relations. Both sides expressed a desire to enhance economic cooperation, share technical expertise, and foster stronger people-to-people ties.

“The President highlighted that the Maldives is prepared to offer assistance through international platforms to help de-escalate tensions and support efforts to establish peace in the region,” the President’s Office said.
