Eleven students who secured first place in last year’s A-Level examinations have been awarded the President's Special Scholarship, while 87 others received the High Achievers Scholarship.
A total of 367 students ranked in the top 10 of the A-Level examinations held last year. Among them, 11 students secured the top rank with A* grades in five subjects, 17 placed second, and 20 came third.
The President's Special Scholarship recipients include six students from Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), two from Baa Atoll Education Centre, and one each from Jalaaludhin School, Ahmadiyya International School, and Arabiyya School.

Speaking at the ceremony, Education Minister Dr Ismail Shafeeu said the number of students who passed A-Level exams last year had increased by 106 compared to the previous year. While the pass rate remains relatively low, he noted that a significant number of students qualified for university entry.
To increase A-Level participation, the government has expanded opportunities for students who pass one or three O-Level subjects and aims to make A-Level the official school leaving qualification by the end of President Muizzu’s term.
