MWSC Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed is still on suspension, the company said today.
Fazeel was placed on paid suspension on December 19, 2024, for filing a land registry for a plot in Hulhumale' which was not allocated to him. He is the brother of then HDC Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed.
MWSC Managing Director Abdul Matheen said that Fazeel still remains on suspension as they are awaiting word from the Police after they conclude their investigation into the matter. Matheen confirmed that Fazeel continues to receive pay although he is on suspension.
Fazeel was not included in the list of land plot recipients nor does he meet the eligibility criteria to receive land, the ministry has said. Regardless, he submitted an application to HDC on June 30, 2024, seeking permit to build a boundary wall on a plot of land, attaching a registry claiming he had been allocated one.
HDC forwarded the letter to the Housing Ministry, along with one other person's application to build a boundary wall on the same plot of land.
The second person who applied for the permit was Abdul Majeed Mahir. Mahir is registered to HA. Dhihdhoo, although the Binveriya scheme only allocates land to residents of Male'.
On August 15 last year, the Housing Ministry responded to HDC's letter, confirming that the land plot in question had not been awarded to any persons, and that the two are not included in the recipients' list.
