UNDP Maldives Resident Representative Enrico Gaveglia has concluded his term on Thursday, June 19.

Gaveglia holds 20 years of experience within the UN and has worked across Asia Pacific.

Under his leadership, UNDP contributed towards the launch of the Integrated National Financing Framework through mobilizing public and private capital to align development finance with climate and Sustainable Development Goals, along with the SDG Taxonomy and Sustainability Framework. In 2024, UNDP supported Maldives' first ESG reporting framework.

Also of note was the UNDP Accelerator Lab, under which innovative methods were utilized to strengthen data-driven planning, digital readiness and community engagement.

UNDP also worked with national partners to facilitate additional resources for advancing access to justice, human rights and gender equality. As such, it facilitated improved access to justice for vulnerable groups through digital transformation in the justice sector and supported the development of the Gender Equality Action Plan.

Under Gaveglia's leadership, the UNDP also extended support to the Government of Maldives in addressing rising healthcare costs. This led to new initiatives such as the establishment of a centralized procurement body at the Ministry of Finance to streamline public spending and make use of the UNDP's global network.

Gaveglia is leaving the Maldives after having served as Resident Representative for four years.
