Indian High Commission marks World Yoga Day

Indian High Commission in Maldives has today marked World Yoga Day at Taj Maldives Resort.

State Minister for Sports, Fitness and Recreation Ibrahim Amir attended the event as Chief Guest. Indian High Commissioner G. Balasubramaniam also attended the event.

According to the High Commission, over 500 people participated in the event.

The Indian High Commission annually celebrates World Yoga Day in the Maldives.

In 2022, a group of people violently disrupted that year's event, which was held at the Galolhu National Stadium. The group included some persons who are now associated with the current administration.

The previous administration pressed charges against 18 persons following the incident. Last week, the State decided not to pursue many of these charges. This includes charges against current ruling People's National Congress (PNC) MP for Vilimale' Mohamed Ismail, Sheikh Fazloon Mohamed and Sheikh Adam Nishan.
